A Closer Look at Your Body’s Structure

Your body’s structure affects how you move, feel, and function every day. When one area is not functioning properly, other parts of the body may compensate, potentially contributing to discomfort, restricted movement, or changes in posture.

Dr. Ley takes a systematic, individualized approach to evaluating spinal alignment, joint mobility, and overall structural function. Rather than examining the spine in just one position, she assesses how the body responds to different movements and positions, such as turning the head, looking upward, or extending an arm. These evaluations help her identify patterns of movement and areas that may need closer attention.

Central to her approach is the Activator Method, which involves much more than the handheld adjusting instrument. Its structured assessment procedures help guide her chiropractic decisions, while the instrument provides gentle, controlled adjustments without the twisting or forceful manual manipulation often associated with traditional chiropractic techniques.

Dr. Ley also recognizes that the body’s structure depends on more than the spine alone. Muscles, joints, ligaments, and fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds and supports the body’s structures) work together to provide stability and allow coordinated movement.

Depending on the findings of her assessment, she may incorporate additional approaches to support structural function:

  • Chiropractic Care using the Activator Method: Gentle, instrument-assisted adjustments guided by a systematic structural evaluation.

  • Custom Foot Orthotics / Pelvic Stabilizers: Individually selected support designed to address foot mechanics and help improve stability and alignment throughout the body’s weight-bearing structures.

  • Therapeutic Exercises: Targeted movements and exercises intended to improve flexibility, strength, coordination, and functional mobility.

By combining careful structural evaluation with techniques suited to each individual’s needs, Dr. Ley seeks to improve mobility, relieve discomfort, and support healthier movement in everyday life.
